Richard Sabey murdered Louisa Sophia Johnson 26 with whom he had been living with and had children.

He was an ex-sailor and and had a wife in India who was halfcast. When she came to England Louisa Johnson decided to leave Richard Sabey and took out an affiliation order on Richard Sabey before moving with the children from Liverpool where they lived to Ise Brook Cottage, Burton Latimer.

When Richard Sabey recieved the affiliation order he went to Burton Latimer where he cut her throat in the street. He took the train getting off at train at Finedon Station and then asked around for the location of the cottage. When he found it he hung around until Louisa Johnson came out to get some water from a well. they then walked towards Burton Latimer and when about 150 yards from Ise Brook Cottage he slit her throat and ran off.
